Digimon, or Digital Monsters, were created as a more male-oriented franchise to compliment Bandai’s Tamagotchi line. Like Tamagotchi, Digimon required care, but also needed to be trained for battle. Devices had the ability to connect and fight.
The toys went on to inspire multiple anime series, video games and more.
